The Masters of Acoustic Blues
Concert & Workshop Series
The
Masters of Acoustic Blues Concert Series is co-sponsored by Oh Papa Music, Scott's promotions
company and record label. This series brings legendary,
up-and-coming & obscure acoustic blues acts that Scott has met
during his 20-plus year career as an acoustic blues performer to
various venues around Floyd, VA. These acts also conduct
instrumental workshops here at the Pickin' Porch.
Although recognized internationally as a hotbed of old-time, bluegrass
& gospel music, southwestern Virginia has also historically
cultivated an often underrecognized blues community that strongly
influenced the other traditional music that developed here.
Through
the concert series & instrumental workshops, the MoABCS is
dedicated to raising awareness of the importance of blues music in the
development of other music indiginous to SW VA and assisting it to continue to thrive in this
area. MoABCS has featured such acts as Paul Geremia, Catfish
Keith, Paul Rishel and Annie Raines, Otis Taylor, Steve james & Del Rey, Dan Stevens, Bradley
Litwin and John-Alex Mason.
