The Pickin’ Porch is dedicated nurturing and promoting music making in Floyd County, VA. Inspired by the robust Floyd County music community, we are committed to fostering a deeper appreciation and understanding of traditional music and creating a community of acoustic music makers and music lovers.

About the Instructor

Scott Perry is an accomplished performer with over 25 years of experience playing venues from coffee houses to festival stages.

Scott is a traditional and original acoustic blues and roots music performer and educator. In addition to the Pickin’ Porch, Scott also operates his promotions company and record label Oh Papa Music.

He instructs over 50 students of all ages and levels each week in beginner, intermediate and advanced guitar in a variety of styles, beginner and intermediate ukulele and beginner mandolin and banjo.

Scott offers instrumental instruction in several styles including blues, jazz, old time, bluegrass, gospel and rock.

He and his wife live on a 40 acre farm in Floyd County, VA were they raise their two sons, dogs, cats, chickens, fruit trees, berry bushes, a vegetable garden and more than a few eyebrows.
